Zonta International is a worldwide service organization of executives in business and the professions working together to advance the status of women.  

Zonta International was founded in 1919 in Buffalo New York.  The name Zonta was taken from the Lakota Sioux Indian word meaning "honest and trustworthy."  Today, Zonta has over 33,000 members in over 1200 clubs in 71 countries.

A brief overview of Zonta International would include:

Zonta International Foundation which supports international service projects and educational fellowships to improve the quality of life for women.

ZISVAW - The Zonta International Strategies to Eradicate violence Against Women and Children.

The Young Women in Public Affairs Award which honors young women who demonstrate a commitment to leadership in public policy, government and volunteer organizations.

The Zonta International Amelia Earhart Fellowship Awards which support outstanding women pursuing graduate degrees in aerospace-related sciences and engineering.

United Nations Involvement - Zonta International is an accredited non-governmental organization in the United nations system.  Zonta International maintains consultative status with various United Nations agencies.
